Urnes

After seeing Feigumfossem we continued along Lusterfjord to see Urnes, a stave church. Norway has 31 stave churches from the 12th and 13th centuries and Urnes is the oldest (built between 1130 and 1150). The name stave church comes from upright stave posts placed at each corner of the church.

We parked in the parking lot marked with an "Urnes Parking" sign and were confused at first because we couldn't find the church. We finally figured out you had to walk 1 km uphill to the church (who puts a parking lot that far from a popular tourist site? not that we minded the walking, but it was kinda weird).
