The Fern is one of the favorite subjects of the nature/landscape photographer. I don't know why because they are much like Ducks to Bird photographers. None of want to admit we have taken 1,000's of shots of these plats in the hope that 1 will turn out really nicely. I went with B&W to really bring attention to the contrast of the fern to its surroundings. I liked the color version as well, but it lacked the "impact" created by the basic B&W image.

This fern was growing on the hollowed out inside of a large red wood stump that was larger than my office. Yes, we paced it out. Those trees define HUGE.
