"Edmonton International Raceways" very misleading. Wetaskiwin group got together about thirty-five years ago and set up the foundation for a raceway. They called it Sunset Speedway. It was a dirt track, wood bleachers and a heavy wire fence. It turned out to be a great raceway. Over the years it went to pavement track, new bleachers with lots of extras. Stock cars came from all over Western Canada and the Northwest United States to race. Wetaskiwin was a small city and they decided to call it Edmonton Internatioal Raceways. They felt that this would really bring in more racers. I feel that it took away from the Wetaskiwin home feeling. I know, I used to race there car #98.
