Yesterday I took a photo of this rose, only close up, this morning I took my Sunday morning cup of coffee, my camera and tripod out to the backyard and took some more pictures of the roses. This one stood out.

To see the little bush this came from go here.. http://www.pbase.com/dhnieman/image/44703301

I know now that I am going to begin paying attention to these roses they're going to wrinkle up and blow away and the bushes become infested with some kind of rose blite I'll need to spend hundreds of dollars treating and then the bushes will die anyway. That's just the effect I seem to have on things that grow in the ground or a pot of soil.

Digital has so much trouble with reds because of the tendancy to blow out. I wish someone would tell me why that is. Anyhow I usually reduce the exposure - or more recently, shoot RAW and reduce the exposure in edit.

Nice shot, colour like this often troubles digital cameras but you've got it well. Need to put it in one of your normal great frames though!

I love the rose Don, and don't worry about those pesky little buggers.....they don't attack digital photos.
Best wishes,

Buy some Orthenex rose spray, some Miracle Grow Rose fertilizer that you mix with water, and fungicide for Black Spot. That should just about do it, then sit back and enjoy the color and fragance : ) Wish it were that easy LOL.
Love the flourescent colors of this rose, looks like it might be a climber variety.

Standing out is the right work, it almost appears as if this rose is completely detached from the green leafs. Great effect with that bright color that you have accomplished.
