Antique Stone Retaining Wall on Sheridan Road

Sheridan Road, near Glencoe, Illinois

Driving down Sheridan Road along Lake Michigan in Chicago's North Shore, your eyes will feast upon mansion after mansion, each one with its own unique style of architecture and landscaping. Each morning during the spring, the streets will be lined with gardener's trucks and wheelbarrows and busy gardeners, hard at work keeping the flora fresh with the scent of Spring. One of the unique aspects of the Architecture and Landscaping is the perponderence of retaining walls which serve many functions; they provide support for the newlyh planted trees, shrubs and flowers, and retain the moisture to help them to grow. In addition, the design of these walls adds character to the look of each home and neighborhood. Photo by Michael Weinberg Photography of Clarks Summit and Scranton, Pennsylvania (PA)

I agree with you Talmage, I would have never thought that these stones were antique. I think that it is so amazing that they were able to reuse them though. We have a big hill in our back yard that has been eroding a lot recently. We really need to put a retaining wall like this up back there.http://www.decorativecreations.com/services.html

Wow, you can hardly even tell that those stones are antique. I think that this retaining wall looks so nice, and I would love to put a similar one surrounding my yard. I just wish that I had more time to work on my yard's landscaping.http://www.woarebuilderssupply.com/Pages/LandscapeStone.aspx
