I've been facinated with water drops lately.
Today, I went to Presby Memorial Iris Gardens with the goal of searching out rain drops. For once, I was happy that it had rained last night.
I'm still not sure what it is about them. They dress the objects that they rest on like jewelry. The beads of water are like gems.
Other times, they seem to defy gravity, hanging on to the bottom of objects.
Then there are the ones that reflect the World around us. The image you can see in them isn't a true representation of reality. In fact, I do believe that it is actually inverted.
Today was rather eventful. Thanks to a tip from a friend, I found a heron feeding in a nearby pond. It was quite a rare site for suburban New Jersey! I watched to stand calmly in the knee-deep water until the moment that it struck, catching a fish and just as quickly swallowing it. I paused for a second and missed the best moments.
Then there was my friend, Jack's graduation party. It was a gathering like no other. Jack is a true rock star, having played stadiums around the World with a very well known rock band. Now we call him doctor. Jack is finishing his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and together with his family, is relocating to a new city where he will embark on the next step of his career. The graduation was filled with wonderful live music and lovely souls. Surprisingly enough, I left the camera home for this event. I went there intending to sit back and experience the night through both eyes instead of a viewfinder. It was kinda strange but yet liberating.
So, in the end, the photo-of-the-day is from the iris gardens. There was peace there today and life was simple when I was just looking for water drops.
