I'll bet this guy is thinking the same as me.... just how typical it is that no sooner is the holiday weekend over and we are all back at our desks than the sun decides to put its hat on. I'm just amazed that it does that in Portugal too! I gave the National Library a miss today, and decided to make an appearance at the university for a bit of a change. Shouldn't have bothered really, for I managed to talk myself into a meeting tomorrow morning. Oh well, me and my big mouth. After work I headed down to my favourite restaurant to rub salt in the wounds of the staff after yesterday's result at Jamor. I was quite disappointed at how remarkably un-upset they were about it, and how they seemed only too keen to remind me that Benfica won the league and lost the cup, while Celtic managed to win the cup and lose the league. There can be no denying which is the better result, so I guess the joke was on me! Still, never mind, Celtic have a nicer strip. While I was in the restaurant there was an item on the TV news about a training course for aspiring lifeguards. In a wonderful example of incisive Portuguese journalism, the reporter asked one of the trainees what was the most important thing that lifeguards need to know. Quick as a flash, the trainee replied: "how to swim". And with that I'll leave you!
