Hi Leslie, I vote for the toned version! :)
The bright colours in the background in the colour version are hard competition for the subtle hues of the plumage.
Another thing you could try is the bird in original colours against the tones background... :)
I love seeing different versions, I can understand how hard it is sometimes to choose the one you prefer!
The light and textures are definitely the winners in the composition!
