Sorry I wasn't around to see all the other versions, but this one looks pretty good to me, down to the hotspot on the left that makes it look, well, hot! I also like the irony of having palm trees instead of snowy mountain tops, with Saab being a Swedish brand and all...

Would you believe it? All day sunday to try and improve on this and we've had cloud cover all day. This will have to stay i'm afraid and i'll retry when we have a topic of Saab cars or Palm trees, i'll win that one:>)

I spose by tomorrow we’ll just be looking at the bleeding badge.

Thanks RK, your idea works better. Still got a few days left for a rethink and shoot but removing the grill here helps a lot.

Have to agree that the grill is distracting. Maybe you want to try a tight crop around the hood

We're thinking the same way Lee, i thought it might be good to include the grill but it looks a bit of a jumble ,while just having the bonnet(hood) in a big sweep looks much better. Our weather forcast is for endless blue winter skies so i should be able to squeeze in another reshoot. I wish i could chop down the damn wires, it would be so easy then.

Just clone the badge out Paul:-)Haha

Paul, It is getting a little better. Needs to be only hood. Put the logo in the lower right third of the picture and have the palm diagonally across the rest of the hood. Just a thought. theFly

New effort. Still not quite right..

If you bring the car a little forward you will lose the power lines. Unfortunately you might lose the palms too.

On the bright side, your car looks really cool. Rich

Bloody power and telephone lines. You can't get away from them here with them strung from poles everywhere you look. I've lost count of the amount of photos that have been ruined or i just haven't bothered to take because of the damn things. They keep on saying they'll put them underground but it'll cost 500 million billion dollars and will take 1000 years to complete so in the meantime every storm we have will bring down a tree and cut the power and phone for a few days until some poor bugger comes out and strings it all back up again.
Short rant over

They're not overhead wires Rich, Pauls bleeding dog Mutley sleeps on the bonnet & when Paul drags him off by the back legs so he can go down the pub, the Mutley leaves his claw marks.
The shot's good Paul, try it again on F8 but you will need a tripod because of a low shutter speed. Just watch for blown highlights when you shoot this sort of shot. What you have in this shot is OK but any more & the shots gone mate. You can always hold up one of your best white sheets to soften the light .

Thanks both, this was a spur of the moment thing this morning and the more i look at it the more i think it could be improved on so i'll have another go. Thanks for the tip regarding the F stop Lee, it was frustrating not being able to get the logo in focus.
ctfchallenge27-May-2005 22:54
Love those palms! Paul, If you can reshoot I would consider a higher F stop. This will help get the Saab logo in focus. Also, I would consider cropping out the windshield. Just a thought. theFly

Great reflection, not sure that I like seeing the overhead wires though. Rich
