The Blackbird is no longer Rollin' but once it was the fastest airplane. My grandson was born after the plane was retired but is just coming up to speed. He was too young to get a lot of good from the historical/educational exhibits at the Virginia Aviation Museum but he sure enjoyed running around the big black plane.
The inset at the bottom is a 100% crop section from the sign just in front of the plane. The photo was shot at close to the optimum aperture for the kit lens handheld with a fast enough shutter speed to stop Grandpa's shakey old hands and the orbiting two year old on the run. I'm sure that owners of better lenses could do better but I can read the whole sign so would say the kit lens passed this test. It was a very overcast day. I'll have to try again when we have blue skies.
