Meal Ready to Eat / 22 May 05

MRE = Meal Ready to Eat. They are by far more advanced then what soldiers had to feed on years ago. However, it does not replace a nice warm homecooked meal. Meet Aaron and....well Aaron. Battle buddies for life who share their rations outside. They woke up at four and they had their first meal at 12:30. Sometimes, there is just not enough time to stop and eat. Certainly those MRE's come in handy. They will find much more appreciation for food after their time in basic training, were you almost live on those things. They soon will graduate and all of them told me that they look forward to heading for the restaurants to indulge themselves in fine cousine!

Meet Brandon, below...

The last MRE I had was about 1990, but I remember them to be much better than the first C ration. This is a great capture!

Very nice candid, and the caption is interesting. I can't help but feel grateful at the sight of our guys in uniform, even doing everyday things. Great shot, Susanne.

I like MRE's. I have four cases for Hurricane food. Ate a few last year. They are about a thousand times better than C rations.

I can't imagine living on MREs for months at a time - but at least they're better than the old C rations, right? Nice catch.

Great slice of life shot, Susanne, of guys who normally would be out somewhere, hanging with friends and eating McD's. I like how you caught them sitting this way and the b&w treatment.
