Sitting in Kit Carson Park, this statue is considered by many to be the finest equestrian statue in the country. It was erected near the site of the Santa Fe Trail in 1912 and bears the following inscription:
Christopher Carson.
Madison County, Kentucky 1809.
Fort Lyons, Colorado 1868.
