Nestled in the spectacular walls of the Cimarron River Canyon in the Curecanti National Recreation Area, Locomotive 278 sits on an original 1882 trestle and narrow gauge track, the last remaining original segment of the Rio Grande Narrow Gauge that once covered 1000 miles of the Rockies. The locomotive dates from 1882 and is restored to 1940's standard.
