This lovely but fairly inconspicuous woodland plant is a Pyrola or 'Shinleaf.' It is called "Shinleaf' because it was used to treat painful shin bruises and wounds. Apparently the plant contains a chemical makeup similar to aspirin (which was derived from the willow).
