The Baltimore (Eastern) Orioles arrived in my backyard May 11th, 2005 for the first time, invading the hummers feeders. I quickly purchased an oriole feeder and stocked it with orange nectar and fresh orange quarters. They have stayed around since then, continuing to visit the hummer feeders and eating the orange pulp, but have not tried the orange nectar. I've added grape jam to their "buffet", when I learned they especially like grape jelly (with pulp...Smuckers or Welch, not some cheapy jelly). I'm hoping they will stay around, so that I can get some better captures. At this point, they are very skiddish and fly away from the feeders when I sneak outside with my camera. Hopefully, I can get some closeups to do justice to these beautiful and colorful birds.
