6th Army Pre WW II
Worn from:
26 January 1927 - 10 January 1945.
The Sixth Army was inactive at the beginning of WW II and was
assigned to the Organized Reserve. The first design shoulder
patch was approved for wear on January 26th, 1927, but was
not worn during WW II. The patch is displayed because the
original design was not cancelled until the new Sixth Army
patch was adopted in January of 1945. Both the six-pointed
star and the hexagon (six-sided) shape of the patch suggest
the unit's designation, and the colors red and white represent
the distinguishing flags for field armies
