100th Infantry Division:
The Century Division.
The 100th Infantry Division was activated as a component of
the Army of the United States on November 15th, 1942, with
Headquarters at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After one change
of station and participating in maneuvers in Tennessee, the
Division embarked for the European Theater in October of 1944
and landed at Marseilles, France.
The shoulder patch worn by the 100th Division was approved on
May 29th, 1923. The blue shield represents the Infantry, and
the "100" the unit's designation. The white upper-half of the
numbers represents purity of heart, and the yellow lower
half represents valor and nobility.
