Blue and white are associated with infantry.,
The gray and bayonet refer to the Confederate service of
elements of the brigade. The red-and-white quartered bottony
cross is taken from the shield of the coast of arms of Lord
Baltimore and appears on the state flag and state seal of Maryland.
