What a disappointment!!

I got up at about 02:00 on Monday night when I awoke and saw the moon.
I went downstairs and opened the French windows and set up the camera and x3 lens on the tripod.
I had seen Tine Verheyden’s moon photo earlier in the evening.
I turned on the computer to see what exposure he had used.
On returning downstairs I found that the sky was now overcast.
I swore and returned to bed.

Last night I woke at 03:00. There was the moon.
I set up again and took about 20 shots with great expectations.

This morning I find that they are crap. Just too much glass I think.
I thought my supplementary lenses were better than they are.

ADRIENNE, it is time for me to get a Canon 20D with
EF-S 17-85 IS
EF 70-300 DO IS
EF-S 10-22
EF 100 Macro

Please……

Olympus E-20N
1/60s f/7.1 at 34.0mm + TCON-300S = 432mm iso80 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

hehe the 10-22 is clearly essential for moon shots. I can see it was a great moon.

Oh yes, I enlarged it into a blurred blob and then reduced it again.
Tripod, Timer and No mirror slap (E20 has no mirror) = Blob.

I want a long lens I can carry, and to go to places to celebrate Adrienne’s retirement, namely Honfleur in September. (booked already following Yorkshire next month.)

How nice to hear from you Mark. I hope all is well.

Now, now Chris, Tine did it with an EOS300D and a cheap 70-300 consumer lens. You don't need all that gear, but maybe a compromise can be reached...the new 350XT and two of those lenses...? :) The moon has disappointed me too. I wonder if Tine did any cropping and enlarging.
