21 APR 05 GOING HOME

Both me and the flyers

The George Washington Battle Group came home making lots of happy sailors and families
As I was leaving work (and sitting in traffic) this grab shot gave me a nice feeling

the funny-looking color is the fact that my mirror was dirty =\

UPDATE
for those who asked (and a few who didn't but wondered). . . no I didn't PS them in
they were flying low and slow with their landing gear down so it was easy to catch
And, yes, I always have the camera handy, but at this particular moment I wasn't driving ANYwhere, just sitting and it was easy to get the shot =]

I live in the flightpath of the local airport and at times it sounds like the fighters are going over; this photo makes me homesick for the Navy, except I was married to a surface sailor and not a flyboy! But, I sure know that excited feeling when they come home... I gotta go weep now.

What a fortuitous capture. I have been in that situation, returning after a long cruise away from family. This is a big day for those sailors, marines and their families. A nice tribute and to catch that formation in your side view mirror. Quite amazing.

Excellent capture! Must have been awesome to see, and hear, in person.

That's a really nice image. I live close to MacDill AFB in Tampa. I always stop to admire in awe and respect for these guys in the service.

Great catch Pete. These homecomings, as we know out here, are a big deal. I like your take on it.

We can almost see the flashing red light coming up behind you... ;-)
