Death, "Ankou" in Breton, on the ossuary of the parish close of La Roche-Maurice, in Brittany. Until the 18th century, parishioners were buried in the church, not outside it; every 30 years or so, their bones would be transferred to an ossuary to make room for new burials. The legend reads: "Je vous tue tous" (I kill you all).
