The waterfall is located in Upstate NY. A five mile hike through the forest and along a river is required to reach the waterfall. The flame is the result of a natural gas emission and burns continuously. Although I understand how the gas could be leaking from the rock, I am stumped about the circustances surrounding lighting it. Who searches under waterfalls with a lit match for gas leaks? Even if you wanted to, wouldn't it be kind of tough to keep the matches dry?
