Sometime when I was in my early to mid 20’s, while doing yard-work on a very hot summer day, the regular “iced tea glass” just didn’t seem to hold enough of the ice cold beverage to quench my thirst. I found myself running back and forth inside the house, filling and refilling the regular sized glass. In frustration I grabbed a quart mason jar and filled it with ice and fresh tea. Perfect! The ice stayed frozen and there was enough tea to satisfy my need. To this day when I’m working outside on a hot sunny day, the only thing that seems really “perfect” to me is a quart Mason or Ball jar, filled to the brim with ice and southern sweet tea. What surprised me as I grew older through my late 20’s and then 30’s, and finally 40’s, how many of my male friends ALSO drank iced tea out of quart jars while working in their own yards! I’ve never once met a woman that does this, … there’s just too much tea in a quart jar for them to drink it all down comfortably.
