[family] Papilionidae, . . . . . . . { [subfamily] Papilioninae, [genus] Graphium, [species] agamemnon. }
Scientific Name: Graphium agamemnon (also Papilio agamemnon)
Common Name: Tailed Jay (aka - Green Spotted Triangle; Green Triangle Kite; Agamemnon's Kite)
-—›Tailed jay butterflies are usually found near running water or moist ground on the edges of forests. Similar to other
members of the swallowtail and birdwing butterfly family, the adult male tailed jay often drinks at puddles and spring seeps,
gathering vital salts required for successful reproduction, as well as nutrients and moisture. Both sexes of tailed jays are
very fast fliers, continualy vibrating their wings rapidly even when pausing to nectar at flowers. When flying in open country,
they are extremely difficult to catch. The Adults feature large, beautiful green wings covered in black and white markings.
The term kite swallowtail originates from its shape, much like old fashioned Oriental paper kite.
-—› The Tailed Jay is an impressive tropical insect found throughout the Indo-Malayan and Philippines to N. Australia regions.
