Too bad we got rain and clouds.
We had a big celebration. I was there of course.
Sixty years ago today my town was liberated from Adolf Hitler's soldiers.
Our liberators were Canadian and Polish troops. First they occupied the air field,
then they took over my town. The German soldiers fled north,
killing prisoners and resistance fighters in cold blood before they left.
Today Canadian and Polish veterans were present once again.
They've been coming back every five years. There's not many of them left now,
and most are 80 years or older. So this may have been the last time for most of them.
Once again they drove the same roads and streets that they fought so hard for sixty years ago.
And we had a parade of old army vehicles. Once again humans cheered.
It's good to remember these things and honour our friends.
