The Beatles

Movie Medley b/w Fab Four On Film (interview)

Capitol B5100

**This 1982 45 is commonly flipped with "I’m Happy Just To Dance With You" (normal retail copy as Capitol B 5107) but GoldMine notes say the 6:38 flip Interview side was intended to be a promotional record only but a few of them got into retail distribution by mistake. This 45 has the movie reel label and wax is mint/unplayed. The PS can only be graded as VG+ because there is about a 1 inch tear at the very top of one side of the PS because it looked like the distributor who cut them out of stock put a saw mark through the corner of the box which cut the very top of the sleeve with about a 1 inch saw mark. While this issue was intended to be a promo for radio use, some of them look like stock copies as there are absolutely no marks designating this as a promo, no "P" or "PRO" appearing before the label number so this is a retail copy!

The interview side is a transcription from what is obviously one of those flexible sound sheets used in the 1960s by ad agencies as a cheap way to provide commercial recordings to radio stations for play. It sounds rough, hissy, with pops and cracks which was typical when one of these flexible disks was played a time or two so it has been recorded "as is" without the benefit of analog to digital cleanup and remastering as this technology was in its infancy at this time. Nevertheless, it is a rare and seldom heard track. I can tell you about the sound here as I have a couple of them in my own private collection so don’t fear, this one is Unplayed! As for the "Movie Medley" side, this record entered the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1982 and eventually peaked at #12, not bad for a group which dissolved some 12 years earlier!**
