Ancient Portal - April 7, 2005

Life is full of surprises. Today I find myself trudging through the jungle pondering the infinite
possibilities of subjects for my first PAD with my new camera. My mind in a daze, I step through
a thick curtain of vines to discover an old, wooden door hidden away at the edge of a small
clearing. The door hangs on rusty hinges and is slightly illuminated by the thin light filtering
down through the dense canopy. Tendrils of vines reach out to the door, but can’t seem to will
themselves to touch it, to engulf it as they had the surrounding terrain. What lies beyond this
ancient portal? Curiosity and caution swirls within my mind. Shall I retreat and leave this
place untouched, or brave the unknown to discover what lies beyond? Curiosity wins out. I
carefully cross the clearing and, bravely opening the door, I cross the threshold to a new
dimension. I have entered the PAD Zone…

Love this photo Erik, and the commentary that followed! And I must agree with John, you are more than welcome to combine your Pad taking with helping us get caught up with the sea of yard work to be done!! LOL!!! I suspect you have a green thumb, yes? (glad you can't see my wicked grin!!)

LOL! This is a riot Erik! Especially since “Trudging through the jungle” is in reference to my back yard! Is this your way of saying “John! Get off your arse and mow the yard!”? I have it on good authority that the “ancient portal” is less than fifty years old, and the only “secrets” behind it are the old water-heater that gives you a hot shower in the morning! Very cool take and excellent commentary! New PAD and yeeeeeer OFF! (Of course, I’ve suspected you were a little “off” for years, and now I’m sure about it!) Good job! (Pssst! Hey Erik, ... you're welcome to mow the yard anytime you want!)
