5 April
Fleet Street

From the bus again but with good excuse today because this statue is so high up on a column that it's the only place to get a good view from. The Column is in the middle of the road in Fleet Street.

What I'd wanted to do for my picture for today is the photo (or red x!) below but, as you'll see, the road markings are reflected in the bus window quite badly.

So, the Election has been called, the Queen has disolved Parliament (if only!!) and us Civil Servants are in Purdah.... yes that's really what we call it, because during this time we have 40 pages of guidance (available to all on the Cabinet Office website) on what we must and must not do - all sensible stuff, which basically boils down to not doing work for the current Government in support of their election campaign. Over the coming weeks we'll be writing tree loads of briefing for the new or returning Government on implementing their election manifestos. It's an interesting time though.

Spectacular indeed. And so cloudy in background. It's like a dragon coming out from a thriller film..

Nice capture. But damn it, when I was in London I was trying to get a good shot of this but I could not seem to get it just right...

Love the Dragon, isn't that a symbol of Wales? Oh yeah, it looks great in silhouette :)
And what the heck are you guys doing over there? I have no idea how your election system works. No wonder my ancestors beat it outta there, LOL.

nice capture. once worked in fleet street briefly - at Goldman Sachs HQ - very posh, very pretentious - very 80's ...

Great capture of the bottom chimney on the left . . . . . oh
. . . all right then, agree with comments below, nice silhouette :)
Ian Clowes05-Apr-2005 21:20
:) I'm sure that's Dick van Dyke behind that chimney pot!

Nice capture... some things are seen well from the bus!

you're going to here this a lot, but great silhouette. the black and white is very appropriate, and the angle is great (justifying the bus for sure ^_~).

what's this about elections? are the people unhappy about those currently in office?
