This is the old Ursuline Convent. It was built in 1752 and is considered the oldest building in New Orleans area. It served as a convent, school, archbishop's residence and now as the Archdiocesan Archives.

Wonderful shot of the Convent, Elaine. I have a photo of your great-grandmother descending the staircase; I am sure you saw the winding staircase.
