Factory Butte is one of the more unusual fomations in southern Utah. It towers 1,500 feet
above the surrounding, otherwise empty plane. It is located about several miles west of
Hanksville, UT. It can be reached by driving down a short dirt road. Until September 2006 is was
also open to nearly unlimited off-road use. As you will see in many of our pictures, folks don't
often stick to the main paths and this is the source of a lot of problems.
