Huey P. Long Bridge

I was stuck in traffic on top of the Huey P. Long Bridge after taking my favorite 3 year old to see a movie today. It was raining and the fog was rolling in over the river. You can make out the Avondale Ship Yard through some of the slats in the bridge. Yes, the edge of the bridge is really that close, I wouldn't recommend riding with your arms outstretched, okay you might have to have really long arms, but it seems that close. This is a two-hand, white knuckle bridge for those of us who don't drive it everyday.

I tried Autumn's suggestion and added the thin black frame - Thanks!

You're right about white knuckle bridge, glad I don't ride train across that one. Great shot, would not like to be stopped there.

I like the lines. Very pleasing to look at.

Wonderful depth. I'm glad you didn't jump!

You sure captured the scariness of it. I don't think I'd like this at all. I would certainly like to see what's on the river bank over there though. This is a tantalizing glimps of it.

Nice lines in this composition, Elaine. Way to use the time effectively.

Well, you made it into an opportunity. Like the way the bridge frames the scene.

Don't think I'd like sitting in traffic on top of this...sounds rugged. Great shapes of cold hard steel, Elaine.

Great shot. I absolutely detest this bridge, especially that little jog where the two ends didn't quite meet when it was built.
I think Autumn Sky's idea is an intriguing one.

Cool description. This is a OMG bridge.

Very frightening bridge! Not a place to get stuck it seems. Great divisions in this photo.

Very good shot, Elaine. I drove it one night in pea soup fog in the police car and had the door open so I could feel the curbing with my foot. I can't stand that bridge. You were a good aunt to do that.

Great improvised shot...

What a cool perspective Elaine...I really like it. Hope traffic wasn't too bad and that your favorite three year old slept all the way home.

"two-hand, white knuckle bridge"... ...with the third hand on the steering wheel!

Elaine I like the creativity here... how the bridge frames the scene like stills in a movie. I might suggest creating a small band of black around the entire image to complete the frame.
