porcupine

This creature
# is believed to have over 30 000 quills
# lashes its tail threateningly when disturbed, possibly detaching loose quills, which fly through the air as though they were thrown
# chews on a variety of objects, including wood, leather, bones, and cast-off antlers, perhaps to satisfy a craving for salt and the need to hone continuously growing teeth
# is a solitary animal for much of the year

I always wondered how they live with theirselves. Ha! They are less common here anymore as most people kill them for fear of their dogs tangling with them. I try to live and let live, but do grit my teeth a little.

Interesting how despite his quills he seems to blend right into all the sticks on the ground!
