This is Tennessee's 1st documented record of Sage Thrasher. The bird was found on Nov. 8th, in Knoxville by Susan Hoyle. The location is on private land, but thanks to Susan and others, groups of birders have been being led in with success usually rewarding those that can put enough time in. I got this and the following photos on 11-13-03. Unfortunately all of my photos were taken looking directly into the Sun, creating exposure problems. Even though the colors are washed out, the pale iris, overall grayish upperparts, small bill, and distinct wingbar are all apparent.
