Peevation!*

I didn't shoot this with the challenge in mind . . .
but after preparing it for my P-a-D I thought it fit!

My daughter is in this play at school called "The Lady Pirates of Captain Bree"
and she plays a British Royal Navy Officer from the early 1800's.
Fresh out of period Royal Navy uniforms, the drama department secured
these old band uniforms in bright purple for the job.
Already chagrined at the costume, my 15 year-old went through some amazing
contortions trying to get the much-to-tight and complicated collar clasp fastened.
haha. I just happened to have ye olde 20d sitting next to me . . .
and the thought occurred to me that I ought to record the event ;)

The purple uniform was desaturated 38% for this image - just
to give you an idea of how ghastly this outfit is. :)

Our apologies to the Royal Navy!

Cindy,

You pic gives me a good case of the heebies everytime I view it. I HATE close fitting clothing (in particular, neckties and tuxes) and the expression on her face is one that has passed over my own on many occasions.

Splendid capture. I like the color treatment. It reinforces the craziness of uniforms and the arcane and crazy little buttons, zippers, and other fasteners that are absolutely bedeviling.

Great capture!

Cindy, as I do like it here...just I'm not normally a fan of that type of portrayal, especially those greeting cards with B+W photos from the 50's with a bright red bouquet of flowers...It is a great photo!

Hi David. I originally edited it in full color. But the face was full of bright reds from the heat and struggle. And the uniform was day-glow purple and yellow. The end result was so much strong color that I felt it was distracting, and I changed to BW. But the BW lost some of the humor of the situation becuse the uniform blended in. So I finally settled for a desat color uniform and BW kid. I don't know if that is best either . . . but that's how it came to be. :) Cindy

LOL!!! This one's great! I'm not really a fan of the B+W and color in the same photo but that's completely a personal preference and I see how it works here. This is great!
