Yeah, yeah - same old orchids as yesterday ($16.99 at Costco; in a pot sitting in front of a cloth backdrop). Spent time early this morning, before the light got bright, trying orchid shots using all three of my lenses. This one is with the 18-70 - much sharper and better tonal contrast than the Tamron 70-300 (but that's what you'd hope spending more money on a better lens would accomplish). As compared to the 105 (1:1) macro lens, the quality is comparable, but the 18-70 was easier to work with to frame and compose this type of shot. Gotta' remember that this spring when I'm out shooting wildflowers & not automatically reach for the macro. (In case you wonder about these little tomes that I write with my PAD - they're notes & reminders to myself as to what was going on at the time.)
