Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, New Orleans, Louisiana

Of course Ania and I both looked inside to see if there was a coffin. It was empty.
The caretaker said that after 1 year and 1 day the tomb is opened,
the what is left of the coffin is removed, and the remains of the person is place
in a bag and pushed to the back of the vault. This is to make room for the next family
member to be buried. Some tombs have over 20 names listed on just one grave.
