Missing You February 21

Her husband is a volunteer fireman - part of what is locally called The Fighting Fifth. Last month he headed to Iraq, leaving behind his wife and three children. Strong as she is, when she was presented with the floral arrangement to honor her husband, she stood for a moment, her face carefully composed - until the company members stood and gave him an ovation. She said it felt as though the place, the sound - everything - receded in that moment and the only thing that was real were her thoughts of her husband.

A suggested change in the processing can be seen here:

very powreful image and story. It was intreresting to see you experiment with reversing what appeared in color, but personally I prefer this choice you went with for your PAD.

The composition is very good and I like the idea of isolating her with selective use of color. Did you try it the other way around? Leave everything else in color and desaturate her? If you have time you might want to look at that and see if the B&W does not complement her mood even more.

Really awesome processing. Best to use selective desat when it enhances a picture and it truly does here. It puts her in her own 'moment' within the frame.

very touching... something that I think you have handled very delicately as well.

Very nice. The mixing of b&w and colours and the story behind the shot make it special.

A very touching story. I like the saturation in this image very much.
