Something tells me that the elevators are not the problem. North Koreans could have gotten them from the Russians or the Chinese. Ryugyong Hotel or "The Hotel of Doom" was not finished because North Korea almost bankrupt it self by building this monstrosity in the country where tourism is not exactly booming. 2% of North Korea’s GDP in 1989 for one hotel?!!! By the way, an Egyptian company started renovation a few top floors of the hotel in 2008.
