Chinese Lantern No.12

Wednesday 16th February 2005 - Day 60

Fin

I wanted to sign off this series in a dignified way, so the lantern underwent a bit of a dissection. What I hadnt counted on was the sheer strength of the structure! I managed to cut it completly in half, without the skeleton collapsing, much to my surprise. This strength made it difficult to crush into dust as well.

Anyway, the seed pod was then revealed, rather than hiding away inside the skeleton.

On a regeneration note, I notice that our clematis are beginning to bud, so hopefully there will be plenty of colour just outside the door in the months to come.

Dont forget, all the images can be found in the Chinese Lantern gallery

This is a wonderful series, Lee. Delicate and strong - a fine combination - and you showed it very well. Good detail and crisp focus in all the photos. I really enjoyed these.

The Chinese Lantern sure looks delicate...I guess looks can be deceiving! Nice ending to this series Lee but I do feel a bit sad that it's no longer whole.

I've enjoyed the series Lee, very different.

What a wonderful thing--the strength of nature. That lantern skeleton reminds me of something I cannot put my finger on--there is something else that makes that similar pod.

So.... you're not gonna burn it then? ;D

Great little structure! You make me want to find one to play with. Nice series.

Great idea, but I guess the lantern wanted to make you work and gave you resistance. See what you find out when you disect things? I like this one as well, but still the last one was my favorite!
