This bridge used to carry the old West Cork railway across the estuary into the pretty little coastal village of Ballydehob. The railway was decommissioned in the 1960s, and the bridge is now a footpath.
Light was failing fast, so I took advantage of a nearby fencepost to test my new acquisition -- a beanbag camera support dubbed "The Pod". There was a bit of movement on the water, so the reflections aren't quite as clear as I'd have liked... but considering this is Ireland in February who's complaining?
I took a series of bracketed images, and selected two -- one exposed correctly for the bridge, the other retaining the drama in the sky -- then combined them in Photoshop and used a layer mask to reveal the detail in the sky. I'm pretty happy with the result considering this is my first attempt at this technique.
