I think this is a good example (of course, you'll tell me!) of how the limitations of ISO 800 in a digicam can be overcome by a little creativity and the magic of post processing. It reminds me of pushing Tri-X when I was a kid and developing and printing my own black and white negatives.

In this case, the high ISO noise is quite effective! Great newsworthy action photo...comp is terrific, caught at the peak of motion (and emotion!). VEry well done~ Nee :)

Keith, I have to agree with all comments made so far. I think the black space at the top really add drama to the struggle under the basket. Fantastic post work.

What the others said, Keith. I like the crop and the action and the tri-x treatment. I often use ISO800 on my V1 for indoor and sports shots, but I haven't really considered going the BW route. I'm such a fan of color, but I have to admit, your post work on this one is totally effective.

I like it too, Keith. The action speaks loud with your unique technique.

Keith, your technique and processing here really add to the "journalistic" feel to this shot. Nice catch of action around the hoop, well composed/cropped, and pleasing contrast. This inspires me to consider leaving the comfort of "iso 100" on my 707 :) Good idea...well done. MFC

I think this works really well. I like the composition and how the crowd is dark in the background. The grain and decoloration gives it a great newspaper/classic sports illustrated look. John(ebones)
