Phnom Bakheng built in late 9th to early 10th centuries. Yasovarman founds Yasodharapura, a new capital, the site of Angkor, around Phnom Bakheng hill. This temple crowns the hill. Dedicated to Siva, it's a five-story pyramid with five shrines. Meant to replecate Mt Meru, the axis of the world and the dwelling place of the gods.
