Brick Folly?

Thursday 3rd February 2005 - Day 47

As well as the bottomless pit in my mouth... OK a slight exaggeration lol... the washing machine decided to give up the ghost last night. Ah well, it has done sterling service. So today down to the white goods shop to get a new one, so much for the new lens lol.

In the middle of the retail park in Exeter, there is this strange building, totally out of context with the rest of the site. The building is much older, and I cannot work out what on earth it is. My guess is some sort of water treatment works, but it could be anything.

This is an example of the brickwork of this building. I love the rich colours of the bricks.

I live just across the road from this 'brick folley'. It used to uphold a water tank that supplied the nearby hospital, which has been turned into a housing estate, although a part of it is still used as a centre for people with MS. A trading estate has now been built beside it.

I wanted to turn this into a house, before they built the retail park. Turns out it's solid inside and used to support a water tank for the then nearby hospital (now converted to houses)

Ohhhh, can't pick a favorite. Love the depth in the arches, love the comp of the one with the trees and love the texture and angle of the third one. Cool shots, all of 'em.

I love the arches and I love how to one side they seem to fall over and to the other they stand up very straight. You did a fine job with this image. I like the narrow feel it leaves behind.
