February 1 - 1:17 p.m.

Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, British Columbia

I couldn't pick just one photo since they all kind of go together so I decided to do a panel. I was walking back to work after have an unsuccessful day taking pictures at Beacon Hill Park when I spotted this funny little squirrel. He ran right up to me and I bent down to see how close he would come. The next thing I knew, he was actually putting his tiny little paws on my lens. I realize these images aren't the best technical quality, but the moment was priceless and hilarious. The sad truth is that I had no food, which is what I think the little guy was after. Poor fella.

Here are individual shots:

Haha, best photo I've seen in a long time. Squirrels are great, amazing that you got so close and the squirrel even reached for the lens.

He must have been a photographer in a previous life and just wanted to see what kind of equipment you were using. :-) I love squirrels - always have. They're very photogenic, and I could just watch them for hours. Great shots! They put a smile on my face today, even though I'm feeling like...well, let's just say I've been ill this week. :-)

Forget the technical quality, this is priceless. I'm smiling from ear to ear.

Actually, all I did was squat down adn he came running up. I was snapping photos and I think he was curious about where the noise was coming from. I was glad to have the fisheye lens so I could catch it this way. I think he was after food more than anything though.

How did you get him to do that? Please let me know, you can drop me a line...

Great Idea. With photos like this you don't need to be absolutely techically correct.

I really enjoyed this one

these shots hugely funny.

Oh, this is sooooo cool. Nice job. The squirrels on the University of Michigan campus are much like this because they are so used to the students feeding them.
Lee Rudd01-Feb-2005 23:17
Maybe he was trying to join his friend in your lens... priceless photos!

LOL... these are great! I can totally see the inquisitive little squirrel mind working! It's kind of like looking through one of those door peepholes to see who's knocking!
Guest 01-Feb-2005 22:53
Very cute! Hope he didn't scratch the lens.
