As expected, we had miserable weather on the second day as we hiked from Routeburn Falls hut over the saddle and dropped down to Lake Mackenzie, which is a brilliant green color when viewed from above.

This picture was taken in the late evening after it had cleared up. NZ gets something like 17 hours of daylight in the summer, so that was an adjustment after coming from home where it was dark around 4:30 pm.
