New to me today. A Kodak Retina II type 011 with a Rodenstock Heligon 5cm f2 lens. Made in Germany between 1946 and 1949. While not the first 35mm camera, the original Retina of 1934 was the first camera to use the modern daylight load 35mm film cassette. Prior to this, 35mm photographers had to load the film into their own cassettes in a dark room. In in 1937, the Retina II added a coupled rangefinder to the mix and the type 011 combined that rangefinder with the viewfinder. With knob film wind, no exposure meter and manual shutter cocking, it’s not a fast camera to use, but we’ll soon see how it works out as a shooter.
