They came in!

Woo Hoo..

Student cameras are here..
In fact- this was the 'test' shot from one of them..
after all, I had to umm.. play.. I mean umm.. learn how it works.. right?
Unfortunately.. the wrong 'memory' cards came in too..
I don't know how long the turn around will be for that..
I think I'll have my kids 'table' share and just bring home
3 cameras a day.. (and then.. when the cards come in it will be a much
more manageable 10sd cards!)

No uploads to the student gallery today since it was a short day..
Another one tommorrow, so not sure if we'll be able to.. but darn..
want to share the new 'FUN' things with them..
(LOL, Hmm.. Maybe I should have THEM take my SP tommorrow.. )
Yikes, and can we say INcentive to diet with the angle they take from!
*gulp*

a great project, and a great shot of the cameras themselves

What paradise for students!!

Such a wealth of possibilities. They'll all be photographers for the rest of their lives - more aware, more sensitive, and generally better people. What a great program.

:) Gayle isn't the one one who's following this. It's all very exciting.

Apparently these HP cameras have 16MB built-in memory, but only 2 resolution modes, 2048x1536 or 640x480. At full resolution, you could probably fit about 8 photos with the built-in memory. At 640x480, I'm sure the built-in memory is plenty for your students. 640x480 is enough for on-screen viewing and 100dpi 4x6 prints. You might give it a try and see if you can get by without waiting for the SD cards.

As for the 141 ISO, it's most likely due to EV compensation when the camera is on AUTO ISO. There are other cameras that adjust the ISO, as opposed to shutter speed or aperture. The aperture on this camera is unusual all-around, max aperture being f/2.6 - f/4.9.

All in all, it looks like a decent snapshooter camera. Apparently it has very high saturation by default, so pictures should "pop" and look very "vivid". That should appeal to the kids color-wise.
