Unhooked

Saturday 8th January 2005 - Day 21

I received my copy of the January National Geographic in the post yesterday. The cover story, for those who haven’t seen it, is “Hooked – on the world’s most popular drug” i.e. Caffiene in all its forms. (Online version at http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0501/index.html)

I used to love coffee… I drank tooooo much of it though. Coming off of it means I am here now.. slightly melodramatic maybe, but I am no longer awake all night, sometimes pacing the floor, nor am I as jittery as I once was.

Coffee is still ‘good’ though, I can drink it, but very seldom do I. When I do I get a high that lasts for several hours – I never noticed that before!

Anyway, this is my version of the cover – I suppose it is a caffeine-free version. Ginger, Orange and Honey Herbal Tea. It smells and tastes lovely.

The newspaper story is about Steve Perryman, the former Spurs hero, who is Director of Football at Exeter City. They play Manchester United in the FA Cup this weekend. Come on you Grecians

This is a great shot. So sharp and I like that it also tells a story. The composition is excellent.

I do love coffee but I only drink two cups every morning.. that all for the day. It wouldn't be morning with tea :) Very nice shot.

Exeter did pretty well at Old Trafford today, I'm sure they'll win the replay!! I must admit I don't drink much coffee, but like to have it occasionally. Good shot :)

well done. Nice shot - very NG stylisation as well ;-)

Eurgh - love the smell of funny teas, but can't stand the taste! I've just switched to decaff coffee instead!

I love the almost monochrome affect, and the shadow on the newspaper, but I'm not sure I like the side of the cup being clipped off, or the yellow border...

I hate tea! I so wished I could find a taste for it, but so far everytime I drink it my nose crinkles up and I gag! Coffee is therefore still my eye-opener in the mornings, but I stopped drinking it at night. I love how the cup in your picture nearly appears 3D.

Very nice photo! The yellow border makes it (very National Geographic of you! LOL! )

I do love my coffee. I've tried to give it up, without success. Your tea looks good.
