With Continued Snow Flurries…

This is shot off of the back porch.

The 300D and I went out walking today, hoping for some beautiful snow shots.
I need to get some pointers on keeping my camera dry, and general tips on
shooting snow pics. I ended up leaving my camera under my jacket.

The snow is almost up to three feet and there's no sign of it letting up soon.

Ah the ephemeral shapes of snow universe...We love snow.
Gentle picture of one of the winter faces.

Nice snow shot. I keep my camera in my pocket when it's snowing. It does get somewhat wet but I've discovered snow doesn't hurt digital cameras. Just kidding. Seriously, my camera has survived a lot.

Beautiful picture. I envy you. In Minneapolis weve broken an all time record for the least amount of snow. And for keeping your camera dry, you might look at this: http://www.camerashed.co.uk/project8.asp

I like this shot Cheryl-can see each little crystal and the icicle above it a bonus. Making notes from Lee's remarks.

this is serious snow!

As for tips, overexpose between 1 and 2 stops, use the AV+/- button and adjustment... this is because all the white fools the meter. Remember to remove this adjustment when you are no longer losing the camera in the snow.

If it is wet snow, a clear plastic bag with a hole for the lens may help, but also be very careful about condensation... allow the camera to cool down before going out, and try not to warm it up too quickly when coming back indoors. Hope this helps a little.
