Thank you Susanne for your very kind comment. For those of you that have not checked out Susanne’s galleries, I heartily recommend that you do so! She is a self-admitted amateur and just starting out, but the eye she has for the world around her is quite impressive! This young lady will go far with her photography, mark my words! It’s a pleasure to visit her site and see what she comes up with next. I’m enjoying watching her grow. This is unsolicited, and Susanne is not a personal friend of mine not does she know anything about me, … and I am very much married and in love with my wife, so you know this recommendation comes from the heart. Check it out, … you’ll like it!

This is a great start with your masculine theme. I really like the lighting and this in my opinion is masculine indeed! Very nice.

Thank you Cheryl for the kind words, and Happy New Year to you as well! I guess this would be a good time at the start of this PAD to mention that I will always include the exif information for each image. As an old die-hard film photographer, I must admit that it’s sweet indeed to visit other PBase user’s images and see the exif info on exactly how the camera was set to make the exposure. In this particular image, I pre-focused the camera on a tripod, set it for “AV” mode so the camera’s lil’ computer would pick it’s best shutter speed, and turned out all the lights in the room. I used a simple little pen-light (moving constantly) to provide the illumination for the exposure. It’s an old photographer’s trick, … and since I’m an old photographer, I’m allowed to use it. (Grin) You can also get the same effect by putting the camera in manual mode, set the aperture (f-stop) for as large as it will go (smallest possible number = largest possible opening on the aperture), and bracket the shutter speed from ½ second up to about 3 seconds depending on how bright your light source is. Good luck and have fun!

Why sure Ms. Dawn! (Here it comes.) I’ll be happy to show you mine if you show me yours first! (Ducking and running from the room as fast as my big feet will move.) Happy New Year to you as well Dawn, … and to all!
